Practicing at Inner City Golf changed my golf game forever. Here is my story for your better golf game. Moving from Perth to Sydney I didn't have a chance to play golf for more than six months and I could not find any driving range around where I live - Crows Nest. I happened to visit Inner City Golf and became a regular member practicing on the screen golf a few times a week. Practicing about three months I began to realize that something was not different. My swing was showing significantly improved and the ball flight pattern was not what used to be mine. Much longer (5 iron by 10 meters) and direct (no more slice or hook). I assumed that it was because it was all simulation and not real. Then the other day I happened to play at Mona Vale course - beautiful but really challenging. No mistake will be forgiven there. Surprising I was starting with par, par, par, par,... all green in regulations. I lost a few opportunities to make birdies as my putting was not working. Then I missed the green and then bunker to bunker as my short game was horrible. But I could make a par on really challenging par 4(>400m). Anyway it was really unexpected and pleasantly surprising.
So what happened. I can tell that the secret must have the feedback system of the screen golf. Whenever you make a shot on screen, it gives you the ball direction and ball flight pattern as well as distance and all others. I can assuredly say that this feedback data is quite accurate. I knew that it was only a simulation but it must be as real as possible. This accurate feedback allowed me to fix my swing form. I could find a few essestial swing components in my swing to make it right. Now I am able to diagnose my swing errors and fix the problems to produce straight and long ball flights. It took just four months to do that. Well, back in Perth I practiced in driving range at least once a week for the last so many years. You can see the ball but you can see the recorded statistical data. I think the feedback system in simulation is much more effective than in real driving range. Hitting balls hard in driving range without a good feedback system may not be any better than simulation equiped with much informative feedback. I cannot wait to see what would happen next. What a great venue! I took my nephews (7 and 5 years old). They had a great time on the giant screens playing Wii. Also, had a lot of fun with the amazing golf simulators.
